Description

The Spanish Main (RKO, 1945). Printer's Proof French Affiche (23.5" X 31.5"). Adventure.
This is a very scarce mid 1940s French poster with artwork by one of the sought after French artists, Bernard Lancy. The French retitled this film "The Black Flag" opting for a more direct pirate identity for the film. It appears from the handwritten notes on the back of the poster that this may have been a "printer's proof," with the amounts of different colors used...noir (black), blue clair (light blue), gris (grey), rouge (red), etc. .Starring Paul Henreid, Maureen O'Hara, Walter Slezak, Binnie Barnes, John Emery, Barton MacLane, J. M. Kerrigan, Fritz Leiber, Nancy Gates, Jack LaRue, Mike Mazurki, Ian Keith, Curt Bois, Antonio Moreno. Directed by Frank Borzage. An unrestored poster with bright color and a clean overall appearance. It may have general signs of use, such as slight fold separation and edge wear, small chips in the borders, small bleedthrough from writing on the verso and transfer to the other side, and minor surface crinkles. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
