Description

The Love Pirate (UFA, 1925). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. German Poster (38.5" X 55") Wolfgang Ortmann Artwork.
Most famous for his portrayal of Siegfried in the 1924 fantasy epic Die Nibelungen, Paul Richter stars as the son of a farmer dreaming a life aboard a pirate ship. The film, also known in English as Peter the Pirate and The Sea Wolves, takes its story from a German adventure novel by Wilhelm Hegeler, who was was also involved in the drafting of the screenplay. This dramatic stone litho poster shows light edge and fold wear, slight fold separations, mild creasing, and pinholes. Aud Egede-Nissen, Richter's wife at the time, took on the role of a seductive dancer that drives a rift between Peter and his pirate crew. Making its first appearance at Heritage, this country of origin, stone litho poster has a few very minor tears and gouges, mostly unobtrusive stains, as well as some toning at the folds. There is an ink stamp in the left background dated February 11, 1925, only eight days before the film premiered in Berlin. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
