DescriptionTarzan the Ape Man (MGM, 1932). Fine- on Cardstock. Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Johnny Weissmuller, a 28-year-old Olympic gold medalist, made his debut as Tarzan in this lavish MGM production, after being spotted by the film's screenwriter at his hotel swimming pool. This was the first pairing of Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan in the roles they would be remembered by for the rest of their lives. Original lobby cards for this film are exceedingly hard to find. Restoration has addressed a tear through Weissmuller, edge tears, pinholes, and surface paper loss at the bottom border. The card has been backed on cardstock and the borders and some of the interior has been airbrushed. The card has some color fading.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
