    Description

Mathias Sandorf (The Isle of Zorda) (Pathé, 1921). One Sheet (27" X 41").
The highly prized Morgan stone lithography catalog of the 1920s boasts few examples more beautiful than this one. Notice the exceptional way the poster artisans have delineated the play of light from left to right. Lovely Yvette Andreyor leans as far back as she can, into the shadows of the room, to escape the villain. The original vibrant color is undiminished. There are pinholes in the corners and image, faint stains in the upper arms, crossfold separations with museum tape on the verso, and small paper lifts in the border corners. In the right mid background and top right border there are small chips, and there is a slight extra vertical crease. Fine.
