    Description

    Frank Buck Lot (RKO, 1930s-1940s). Original Art by Glen Cravath (3) (13.5" X 14", 14" X 16.5", & 16.5" X 22.5"), Illustrated Handwritten Note (9.5" X 12.5"), & Uncut Pressbooks (2) (12" X 18" & 14" X 20.5").
Included in this lot are stunning original works of art by Glen Cravath for RKO's Frank Buck jungle films. Executed in both pencil and ink, the two main images show a tiger wrestling a giant snake and two tigers on the prowl. There is also a "Map of Frank Buck's Jungle Land," copyrighted in 1934 by Glen Cravath, with a handwritten note, explaining how to set it up for "school or reference," an uncut pressbook from Frank Buck's Jungle Cavalcade (RKO, 1941), and the uncut second section of the campaign book from Wild Cargo (RKO, 1934), which has Cravath's name written in the top edge of the front cover and again on the third page. Unrestored works of art and pressbooks that display signs of use. May include light edge or fold wear, spine wear, creases, slight fold or spine separations, very minor paper loss, pinholes, or unobtrusive stains. The art with the tiger and the snake has a three and a half inch tear from its bottom edge into the image area and is signed: Cravath. This lot comes with the original printed studio envelope from Wild Cargo, which is torn and missing paper. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Fine/Very Fine.
