Description

Fang and Claw by Glen Cravath and Other Lot (RKO, 1935). Poster Photo Elements (8) (9" X 10" to 17" X 20.5"). Adventure.
Glen Cravath was an American comic artist and illustrator, who began his career as an illustrator for the New York Journal in the 1920s. This amazing small archive is some of the only surviving elements from his long and terrific career. He worked as a comic artist for King Features Syndicate, and worked on among others the 'Frank Buck' Sunday page in the mid 1930s. He designed several movie posters for RKO and Columbia, and also produced promotional comic strips for new RKO releases, that ran shortly in the newspapers, such as Little Women (1933) and North West Mounted Police (1940). Some of the films he worked on were King Kong (1933), Son of Kong (1933), Call of the Wild (1935), The Reluctant Dragon (1941), and many more. There are hand applied touch-up marks to most of the photos, and one bears his hand written name. There are two photos for Fang and Claw (1935), one for Jungle Menace (1937), one for Jungle Cavalcade (1941), three for Jungle Jim (Columbia, 1948), and one for Jungle Jim in The Forbidden Land (Columbia, 1952). Some of the pieces have Cravath's hand applied blackening on the verso. There are corner bumps and creases, minor tears, some are trimmed by the artist, and one is folded on the borders. Overall grade is Very Fine-.
