    Description

Beau Geste (Paramount, 1939). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Style B. From the Mike Kaplan Collection.
Not offered in nearly a decade, Heritage has the rare opportunity of presenting this excellent style B one sheet, a poster much harder to find than the still rather scarce style A. It features a brilliant background sure to catch the eye of any viewer and a great closeup of Gary Cooper in one of his most famous roles, which marked the star's final film for his contracted tenure at Paramount. In the second adaptation of P. C. Wren's popular 1924 novel, Cooper is supported by an outstanding supporting cast, including Ray Milland, Robert Preston, Brian Donlevy, Susan Hayward, J. Carrol Naish, Albert Decker, and Broderick Crawford, with solid direction from William Wellman. This excellent poster has benefitted from touchup applied to slight fold wear and separations, a small chip, some of the pinholes, and a couple of creases. Also addressed were a few tears in the image and title, including one into Gary Cooper's mouth and shoulder. Still visible are a few paper lifts and pinholes in the borders, a couple of which have rust stains, edge wear, and small tears. There is a very small bit of adhesive remnants in the upper background just above the "P" in "Paramount." The linen has been trimmed nearly to the borders, but does not affect neither the paper nor the poster's wonderful image.
