A huge bestselling novel in its day, it was only surpassed with Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind several years later. Fredric March is Anthony, the son of a Marquis who has killed his wife's lover in a duel. When his mother dies giving birth to him, Anthony is left in a convent and later apprenticed to a merchant who names him Adverse for the troubles in his life. Olivia de Havilland and Claude Rains co-star. This linen finish lobby card set has terrific images of the stars from Mervyn Leroy's epic in which Gale Sondergaard won the best supporting actress Academy Award. The cards all have light corner bumps, but are otherwise in superb condition for their age. The original envelope is included. Very Fine/Near Mint.
