Description

The French Connection (20th Century Fox, 1971). British Quad (30" X 40").
Winner of the Academy Award for both Best Picture and Best Actor (Gene Hackman), this gritty and fast-paced crime drama set in New York City features Hackman as police detective "Popeye" Doyle. He and his partner, Buddy Russo (Roy Scheider), try to track down the source of heroin from Europe into the United States. The film's high point, a car chase after an elevated train, set the standard for scores of movie action sequences to come. There is writing in ink at the top left, the right and left borders have been folded back, a small spot in the center left background, and pinholes in the borders. This British quad features an innovative variation on the design used for the American poster, to great effect. Folded, Fine+.
