    Description

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (United Artists, 1969). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A. George Lazenby made only one film as super-spy James Bond, but many fans consider him second to only Sean Connery as the best Bond. Unfortunately, while he's provided the most compelling story of the series and a great supporting cast (Telly Savalas, ex-"Avenger" Diana Rigg and future "Avenger" Joanna Lumley), the studio bungled the transition between Bonds. Since George Lazenby was a virtual unknown when he was cast, teaser advertising, like this one-sheet featuring a faceless Bond, emphasized the iconic character rather than the new actor. United Artists would later say that this marketing strategy was a mistake which hurt the film's performance at the box office, but both the poster and the film (in which Lazenby at one point bemoans, "This never happened to the other fellow") can now be appreciated for their cheeky self-reflexivity. This one sheet has crisp edges and only the slightest wear along fold lines and in the top corners. Very Fine+.
