Description
North of Nome (Arrow Film, 1925). Folded, Very Fine-. Six Sheet (80.5" X 81").A story of love and betrayal set in the Yukon in the Alaskan wilds, this silent action film stars Gladys Johnstone with Robert N. Bradbury and Robert McKim, who is most remembered for his role as Douglas Fairbanks' rival in The Mark of Zorro. One of his only two performances in front of the camera, Bradbury is far more well known as a director of a multitude of early Westerns starring his son, Bob Steele, and also ones featuring a young John Wayne. This six sheet (which is likely the only surviving example of this poster) is an excellent example of the beautiful images typical of posters of the silent era, with its detailed rendering of the lead characters, their dog sled and dogs, and watercolor-like background with colors reminiscent of a glowing aurora borealis. In absolutely wonderful condition for its age, this poster comes with all four of its panels and shows pinholes in the black background, small edge tears and nicks, fold wear with mild splits and crossfold separations, a tear in the upper background, and a thin scratch in the image area. There are small stains in the middle of the upper background and in the "E" in Robert McKim's credit.
