Description

James Bond Group Lot: "Dr. No," "From Russia With Love," "Goldfinger" (United Artists, 1962-1964). Pressbooks (3) (Multiple Pages). Everyone has their favorite James Bond films, but most people locate their choice with their favorite Bond, and for the many people who prefer Sean Connery, one of these three films (if not all three) represent the apex of the series. The pressbooks display well -- each has a horizontal fold-line through the middle; "Dr. No" has tape-repaired tears at the top and bottom; "From Russia With Love" has a fold-line tear on the right side and scuffs on the edges; "Goldfinger" is also a bit scuffed on the edges, and tape has reinforced the corners. Aside from the familiar art and photo stills, though, the pressbooks also offer a fascinating look on the evolving marketing strategy around the Bond films."Dr. No" emphasizes Ian Fleming, the author of the novels, while "From Russia With Love" spotlights the hero and the potential excitement of his exploits. By the time "Goldfinger" was released, though, Connery and the simmering sexuality had become the most marketable assets for MGM. All of these pressbooks are uncut. Very Fine-.
