Description

His Hidden Purpose (Paramount, 1918). One Sheet (28" X 42").
Chester Conklin and Marie Prevost make a charming pair on this stone litho one sheet from the silent comedy His Hidden Purpose. Conklin, who first gained fame working for Mack Sennett in the Keystone Kops shorts, went on to starring comedic roles in the 1920s, and appeared in films until 1966. Marie Prevost began as a Sennett "Bathing Beauty" in 1917 and went on to have top billing in a series of silent films throughout the 1920s. This stone litho one sheet shows dust shadows in the right border, a small gouge with slight surface paper loss in the upper left background, mild tears and chips in the borders, and minor crossfold separations. There is staining in the borders and interior with mild surface rippling, and some paper loss in the upper right corner. Folded, Fine+.
