    Description

    Gunga Din (RKO, 1939). Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style B.
This was the breakout film for George Stevens, who directed this rousing adventure yarn that was loosely based on a Rudyard Kipling poem. It's the tale of three brawling British sergeants who are stationed in 19th century colonial India and battle the murderous Thuggee tribe. Cary Grant, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Victor McLaglen are great as the carousing comrades, wonderfully depicted on this rare half sheet. There has been touchup to pinholes in the borders, a bottom right corner bend, tears in the upper and right borders, and a minor stain in "Fairbanks, Jr." and "Fontaine." There was also a chip in the 'I' in 'Din', another in the right border at the horizontal fold, and minor surface paper loss in the left and upper borders. There has been touchup to the folds and the white highlights in the Grant/McLaglen/Fairbanks. Fine/Very Fine on Paper.
