DescriptionGoldfinger (United Artists, 1964). Japanese B2 (27" X 41"). The James Bond series began as spy thrillers with a political edge, but with a character named Pussy Galore, this film found it difficult to take itself seriously. The villains grew more cartoonish, their plans for world domination more outlandish, the quips more frank and frequent. Perhaps the height of the series' camp -- although "Moonraker" fans would disagree -- occurs two films later when Sean Connery's Bond goes undercover as a Japanese man and takes on the Japanese Secret Service ninja force. Connery was mobbed during production in Japan, a popularity to which this Japanese one sheet for "Goldfinger" certainly contributed. The film endures as an international classic, perhaps the best of the series, and this poster features all of the most treasured elements: the aforementioned Bond girl; the fight scenes with Goldfinger and his henchman, Odd Job; the skin suffocation of a woman by being covered in gold; and, of course, Bond and his gun. Despite a small tear on bottom and wrinkling and scuffs on the edges, the poster looks great. Very Fine-.
