DescriptionGoldfinger (United Artists, 1964). Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Sean Connery cements his status as the definitive James Bond in this cheeky follow-up to the first two, and more serious, entries in the series. All of the iconic moments remain entrenched in pop culture's memory: Gert Frobe's villain; his henchman, the hat-throwing Odd Job; the laser that threatens Bond's most valued body parts; the Astin Martin; the subtle suggestiveness of Pussy Galore; Shirley Eaton's introduction and farewell, a death by skin suffocation from being coated in gold, a death rumored to be real. As it turns out, Eaton lived and lives still, and scientists have demonstrated that human skin plays little or no role in respiration. The death may not be realistic, but it makes a beautiful image, one this half sheet displays to great effect. Once folded, it has now been rolled. The poster has fold lines as well as wrinkling, with two pinholes in the top border, but Connery commands the poster as fiercely as ever. Fine+.
