Description

The Sound of Music (20th Century Fox, 1965). British Quad (30" X 40") First Wide Release Version, Howard Terpning Artwork.
With music by Rodgers and Hammerstein and directed by Robert Wise, 20th Century Fox brought one of the greatest musicals to the screen with The Sound of Music. This was a true account of the musical Von Trapp family who were forced to flee Austria with the rise of the Nazis before the outbreak of World War II. Winner of five Academy Awards including Best Picture and starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The film was initially released in the wide-screen TODD-AO roadshow version, even in England. Then was taken to a more wide opening in standard 35mm. This poster is for the more widely shown version. Professionally conserved with almost no work other than foldline touchup. Very Fine+ on Linen.
