    Description

The Lost Weekend (Paramount, 1946). Very Good/Fine on Linen. Italian 2 - Fogli (39" X 54.5") Rinaldo Geleng Artwork.
Ray Milland turns in an Oscar-winning performance as Don Birnam, an alcoholic writer who lets his lust for booze destroy his career and his life. Directed by Billy Wilder, this was the first time a major studio had tackled this taboo subject and the film became such a tremendous box office success that it created a greater social awareness of alcoholism as a modern illness. Not only did the film win Milland a nod but also won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. Italian artist Rinaldo Geleng produced a magnificent image of Milland facing alcohol hallucinosis with a lovely image of his girlfriend Jane Wyman looking on helpless. There has been partial touchup to the folds, pinholes, a few larger tears into the interior, and chips with splices. These issues are still visible and the poster has unaddressed staining in the borders.
