Description

The Life of Emile Zola (Warner Bros., 1937). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41.5").
This somewhat fictionalized biography of the great French writer is considered the best of three biographical films that Paul Muni did for Warner Bros., reflected by the film's Best Picture Oscar and Muni's own Best Actor nomination. Most of the film is devoted to Zola's attempts to clear the reputation of the framed Army captain Alfred Dreyfus, portrayed by Joseph Schildkraut in an Oscar-winning performance for Best Supporting Actor. This one sheet doesn't come up for auction very often, and this example has had professional restoration to address some fold wear and separations, very minor chips, small tears, as well as pinholes and enlarged pinholes.
