Description
Sunrise (Fox, 1927). Very Good/Fine on Paper. Lobby Card (11" X 14").George O'Brien, as the Farmer who is torn between the love of his wife (Janet Gaynor seen here) and that of a morally depraved woman from the city (Margaret Livingston). F. W. Murnau artistically directed this film, and it remains his enduring masterpiece of the cinema. After the stunning success of his German films Nosferatu, Der Letzte Mann, and Faust, Murnau was lured away from Germany to Hollywood, where he was given complete artistic control of his first American movie, Sunrise. This classic's posters and lobby cards are scarce and are seldom offered for sale. This is only the second example of this portrait card that Heritage has ever offered. The card has been paperbacked, primarily to reinforce the lower right corner which was replaced. The missing area went into the background of the image and part of the H.C. Miner Litho information. The borders have been airbrushed, and there has been a repair to several tears and cracks within the image.
