Description
On the Waterfront (Columbia, 1954). Fine+ on Linen. Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 77.75") Anselmo Ballester Artwork.Marlon Brando and director Elia Kazan concluded their successful working relationship in films with this stirring whistleblowing drama, a pairing that won each a bevy of Academy Awards and other accolades as well as a lifetime of immense respect for one another. Kazan founded the Actors Studio, the legendary proving ground for several Hollywood and stage actors, but in pursuing a filmmaking career handed the reins over to Method acting pioneer Lee Strasberg, who trained Brando along with Karl Malden, James Dean, and other artists Kazan would work with in later films. Heritage offers an Italian two-panel poster for On the Waterfront, with Anselmo Ballester arresting viewers with his suspenseful rendition of Brando's conflict with the harbor workers that betrayed him. Parts of the folds and borders have been airbrushed to treat slight fold separations and some small chips, other parts of the folds and minor tears had touchup applied, and color touchup was used on parts of the folds in a few of the red letters in the title. From the Michele Collection.
