Description
Mrs. Miniver (MGM, 1942). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Style D.Inspired by the character Mrs. Miniver created by English writer Jan Struther, Mrs. Miniver stars Greer Garson as the titular British housewife, Kay Miniver, who must deal with the encroaching effects of World War II on her family's daily lives. Walter Pidgeon co-stars as Kay's husband Clem, and the married couple's inspiring trials and tribulations in dealing with life during wartime is portrayed on this gorgeous stone litho poster. The film has a lasting legacy, winning six of its twelve Academy Award nominations, and this wonderfully restored poster is a lasting tribute to the film. Prior to restoration, the poster displayed pinholes, edge and fold wear, fold separations, creases, and small tears and chips. The majority of the wear was in the borders and along the folds, though there was a tiny nick in the image of Greer Garson. Professional restoration has addressed these issues, and airbrushing in the borders and background have given this poster a beautiful and clean look.
