    Leo the MGM Lion (MGM, 1928). Three Sheet (41" X 78").
    Leo the Lion appears at the beginning of every MGM film, and is the main attraction on this large format poster from his world tour. One of MGM's most active animal trainers was Volney Phifer, who would alone train the first Leo. He would tour the country advertising his "live" exhibit of Leo and other MGM animal stars. This poster is a rarity, as it was most likely only distributed to theatres within the MGM circuit. It features many of the studios top talents, including Ramon Navarro, Greta Garbo, Lon Chaney, Tim McCoy, Buster Keaton, Laurel & Hardy, and more. The unrestored poster shows foxing in the right border into the cast list and lower text, fold and crossfold separation, paper loss in the upper horizontal fold and vertical fold at the lower edge, a small hole in the lower text, creasing, and tape on the verso.
