Lawrence of Arabia (Columbia, 1962). Folded, Near Mint. One Sheet (27" X 41") Roadshow Style B.Based on T. E. Lawrence's The Seven Pillars of Wisdom, this incredible motion picture was nominated for eighteen Oscars and won seven, including Best Director (David Lean), Best Score (Maurice Jarre), and Best Picture. The film was the true account and epic depiction of the revolt of the Arabs against the Ottoman empire during World War I. Peter O'Toole established himself as a major star in the lead role of Lawrence and the rest of the cast was just as brilliant, including Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, and newcomer Omar Sharif. The film has long since transcended into legend as one of the most important films ever made, inspiring other directors such as Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. This one sheet is the more familiar, iconic silhouetted face, giving the title character a distinct air of mystery. The condition is stunning; generally when this rare style B Roadshow poster is offered, it has been restored, or often faded and well-worn from the film's extensive screenings. This unrestored, beautifully archived example retains bright color, clean folds and no perceptible openings at fold junctions.
