It Happened One Night (Columbia, 1935). Fine+. Lobby Card (11" X 14").Ace reporter Peter Warne is played with effortless charisma by Clark Gable in his finest comedic role, as he falls for spoiled rich girl Ellie Andrews (Claudette Colbert), coquettishly brittle but lovable. The film won five Academy Awards: for Best Picture, Writing, Actor and Actress and for Director Frank Capra. This meltingly beautiful portrait card from the following year capitalizes on the Academy wins with a "1st prize" logo in the left border artwork and was used while the film was still in its original release. The card shows pinholes throughout, scuffing to lower left of Colbert's face, and slight soiling to right.
