Description
It Happened One Night (Columbia, 1934). Very Good+ on Paper. Insert (14" X 36").Comedy collectors should jump at the chance to own an original insert from this classic screwball production, a format Heritage has had the pleasure of offering only once before. Only three movies in the entire history of Hollywood can claim Oscar wins for all five of the Academy Awards major categories: Best Picture, Best Director for Frank Capra, Best Actress for Claudette Colbert, Best Actor for Clark Gable, and Best Adapted Screenplay. It Happened One Night was the first to achieve this grand distinction, and it held onto its reigning title for over an impressive 40 years. Capra, Colbert, and Gable put Columbia on the map with this endearing picture, elevating the Poverty Row company to a major motion picture studio. Featuring a classic 1930s flair, this poster looks great after being professionally conserved, which has addressed fold wear and separations, creasing, border chips, and tearing into the interior. There was also a chip in Clark Gable's eye and a tear over his right eye. To finish out the restoration, the borders and parts of the blue background were airbrushed. This poster will be shipped flat.
