Description

Grand Hotel (MGM, 1932). Fine+. Lobby Card (11" X 14").
MGM pulled out all the stops in the first of their star-studded features. This film won the Best Picture Oscar the year for its release and was a tremendous moneymaker. Initially, there was skepticism that by putting all of their stars in one picture, Greta Garbo, John and Lionel Barrymore, Joan Crawford, Wallace Beery, that they (the studio) might lose money instead of spreading the stars out over five or six pictures. With its financial and critical success, the way was open to produce many similar films. This card features an intimate portrait of Greta Garbo and John Barrymore. The card shows color fading, border toning and smudges, pinholes, and surface scuffs. Strips of paper tape on the verso. From the Wood Hall Collection.
