Description

Gone with the Wind (MGM, 1939). Very Fine on Linen. Pre-War Belgian (24" X 33").
Gone with the Wind is a visually stunning and emotionally powerful film that captures the grandeur of Hollywood Epics. Vivien Leigh's Scarlett O'Hara is unforgettable, and Clark Gable's Rhett Butler adds sharp wit and charm. The film is renowned for its sweeping narrative and grand production design, but its romanticized depiction of the antebellum South and stereotypical portrayals of Black characters have rightfully sparked ongoing controversy. It's a landmark film in cinema history earning a combined total of over three billion dollars in theatrical ticket sales when adjusted for inflation. Rhett Butler's closing line "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" is among the most famous quotes in film history. Backed to linen, touch-up has addressed wear at the folds, small creases or splits in the image and the white border areas have been airbrushed. A black box was added over the distributor information, likely for subsequent use in a re-release. Thanks to these efforts, the poster displays wonderfully.
