    Description

Gone with the Wind (MGM, 1939). Fine+ on Linen. Roadshow One Sheet (27.5" X 41") Style CF, Armando Seguso Artwork.
Heritage is please to present only the second copy of this historical poster we have ever presented, the previous being in far lesser condition! Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh star in this Academy Award winning story and one of the most important films ever made. An adaptation of Margaret Mitchell's classic novel of the Old South before and after the Civil War, the film made Hollywood history by capturing a record-breaking eight Oscars including Best Picture, Director (Victor Fleming), Screenplay, Actress (Leigh), and Supporting Actress (Hattie McDaniel). Artist Armando Seguso's exquisite portrait of the roguish Gable and beguiling Leigh makes for an enchanting illustration on this style CF one sheet. The Roadshow posters for this film, used only in the first couple of months of its release in 1939, are in great scarcity. We sold another style Roadshow poster from the film in our March 2020 auction for over $22,000! This particular one sheet has received conservation to fold wear, pinholes, a couple of tears, and a few small chips. The poster looks to have been previously mounted prior to its restoration and now has some surface paper loss on the verso, but this does not show through to the front. There was an approximately 0.5" trim along the borders that did not approach the printing. This has been addressed with airbrushing in the borders, and the yellow background around the image has been airbrushed as well. It now presents very well and is more than ready for display!
