Heritage is pleased to present this massive Italian poster for the very first time, an exceptionally rare 8-fogli format that was not often printed due to its impressive size. The film won several Academy Awards, including best picture, with Fred Zinnemann taking home the Oscar for Best Director, Sinatra winning the Oscar for Supporting Actor as Maggio, the maligned private, and Donna Reed winning Supporting Actress. Leading players Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr were likewise nominated for their roles, both turning in remarkable and memorable performances. Poster artist Anselmo Ballester lends his signature sense of suspense to the piece, which has had light professional touchup applied to slight fold wear, a few tears, pinholes and enlarged pinholes, as well as a corner chip in the upper left. Some of these issues are still visible after restoration, including unaddressed edge wear with small tears, creases, unobtrusive stains, and patterned toning.
