Description

Casablanca (Warner Brothers, R-1957). Folded, Very Fine-. Full-Bleed Swedish One Sheet (27.5" X 39.5").
In 1942, Hal B. Wallis and Michael Curtiz hired a number of talented writers and A-list actors to make what they hoped would be a successful war drama. Instead, they created a legend. Casablanca is possibly one of the most beloved films of all time. When the film first opened in 1943 in Sweden, the Nazi ambassador demanded more than four minutes of cuts that he considered offensive and humiliating to the Third Reich. So, as not to anger the Nazis and keep Sweden neutral, the government acquiesced to the cuts. This reissue is from the first showing of the film in its entirety in Sweden. Winning much-deserved awards in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Writing, this film was also Humphrey Bogart's first nomination for Best Actor and perhaps his most defining role. Paper from the film is among some of the most collectible in the hobby, and it has been over a decade since Heritage has had the opportunity to offer this rare Swedish poster. It's in great shape with few flaws to be found, including edge and fold wear, slight fold separations, light creases, and pinholes. There are small tears and minor chips at the edges, however this does little to detract from the poster's overall presentation. Folded, Very Fine-.
