    Description

    Casablanca (Warner Brothers, R-1953). Italian Photobustas (3) (13.5" X 19.25").
A cinematic masterpiece, Michael Curtiz's wartime drama serves not only as a bittersweet love story, but also as a compelling tale of redemption. Both aspects are on full display here with these lovely Italian photobustas, which we at Heritage have never before had the pleasure to offer. One shows us Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman's blissful time together in pre-invasion Paris, featuring an idyllic portrait of the two stars. The second presents a scene from the film's stirring conclusion, with Claude Rains and Bogart just seconds away from finally taking a stand against oppression. And the third shows a tense scene with all the main characters at Rick's Cafe. The photobusta featuring Bogart and Bergman has some slight creases, small border tears, a few unobtrusive stains, and a couple of soft surface scuffs. It also shows a small hole in the top border, a paper lift in the upper left background, and a bit of paper loss in the lower right corner. The photobusta showing the airport scene has a diagonal crease, mild tears that extend slightly into the background, and a few stains and smudges in the borders. There is a small splice in the upper left corner with masking tape on the verso, a piece of cellophane tape behind a tear at the top, and some surface paper loss in the background that has been colored in with ink. The third photobusta is in the best condition of the three, with only pinholes in the corners, light creases, and a few minor tears. Fine/Very Fine.
