Casablanca (Warner Brothers, 1942). Insert (14" X 36") From the Warner Media Archive."Everybody Comes to Rick's." It wasn't just the original title to Murray Burnett's play, but also applied to its legion of fans, and the cast of characters that would populate Michael Curtiz's film, that was better known as Casablanca. Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid became the legendary love triangle in this film, with a supporting cast including Conrad Veidt, Peter Lorre, Claude Rains, Sydney Greenstreet and many others. And what makes this poster so nice, is that everyone appears on it. The film went on to become the most important films in Hollywood history, and along the way, it achieved cult status and received many Oscars as well, including Best Picture, Director and Screenplay. Humphrey Bogart, who had already achieved huge status for his roles in High Sierra and The Maltese Falcon, would solidify his place in Hollywood legend as the saloon keeper Rick Blaine and would also be nominated for Best Actor for the first time. Signs of usage include slight fold wear with mild separation, pinholes, and soft smudges. Light partial touchup has been applied to the folds, a small chip in the top border, and some of the pinholes. There are a couple of paper tape remnants on the verso from being hinged to mount. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
