    Description

Casablanca (Warner Bros., R-1962). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Italian Locandina (13" X 37.75") Silvano "Nano" Campeggi Artwork.
Top-notch Italian artist Silvano "Nano" Campeggi took the lead in designing the illustrations for the 1962 reissue of this American classic, his images rank among the best poster art made for the film. Sharing the same artistic design featured on the Italian 4-fogli, Campeggi renders stars Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman with a gorgeous stylistic flair on this rare locandina. Both leading players turn in exceptional performances in director Michael Curtiz's timeless war drama, along with Paul Henreid, Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Peter Lorre, and Sydney Greenstreet. With such an impressive and star-studded cast, its no wonder the film took home the highly-coveted Best Picture and Best Director Oscars in 1943. This lovely locandina has had professional corrections made to fold wear, pinholes, minor chips and tears, as well as some surface lifts. A few of the lifts were in the interior, including one over the distributor logo which has been recreated. The borders and white background have been airbrushed, and there is an ink collectors stamp at the top that has not been addressed. However, this does not affect the image on this beautiful display piece.
