    Description

    Casablanca (Warner Bros., R-1953). Very Fine-. Italian Photobustas (2) (19.25" X 13.25").
All four of the film's major leads, Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains, and Paul Henreid, feature in these excellent photobustas from Casablanca's 1953 Italian re-release. The first photobusta has shots of Bergman, Henried, and Rains, but also features Joy Page, the stepdaughter of Jack Warner, as well as Helmut Dantine, an actual Austrian refugee who had spent three months in a concentration camp. The second photobusta pictures a tense scene with Bogey and the other major players that shows off Michael Curtiz's Oscar-winning eye for direction and Arthur Edeson's skilled cinematography, taking heavy inspiration from the shadows and angles from the film noir genre. General wear shared between the two photobustas includes soft creases, pinholes, minor stains, and light surface scuffs and scratches. The first photobusta has had partial touchup applied to some of these issues, and still shows minor tears, a vertical crease, and mild toning. Both photobustas have pieces and strips of paper tape on the verso. However, these are not visible from the front and both items present very well.
