    Description

    Casablanca (Warner Bros., R-1953). Fine+. Horizontal Italian Photobustas (2) (19.25" X 13.25").
Each offered for only the second time by Heritage, both of these photobustas feature Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid, and one is the only photobusta in the set picturing Sidney Greenstreet. Claude Rains is featured with Joy Page, the stepdaughter of Jack Warner, as well as Helmut Dantine, an actual Austrian refugee who had spent three months in a concentration camp. Both are fantastic shots showcasing the film's Oscar-nominated cinematography, and neither have been offered since 2007. General wear between the photobustas includes pinholes, mild creases, very minor chips, and unobtrusive stains. There is slight edge wear, small tears, a few surface scuffs, as well as some surface rippling on the slightly folded photobusta picturing Bergman and Henreid in the police station. Noticeable touchup has been applied to a few tears in the image and background on the right side. There is tape stain bleedthrough from strips of masking tape on the verso in the lower border, as well as strips of cellophane tape and a bit of penciled writing on the verso. The photobusta with Greenstreet has slight toning, a stain in the background and partly in Greenstreet's shirt, and a small corner chip in the lower right. A rare sight to see at auction, collectors should take note of these highly desirable pieces.
