    Description

    Casablanca (Warner Bros., R-1953). Fine+. Horizontal Italian Photobusta (19" X 13.25").
In 1942, Hal B. Wallis and Michael Curtiz hired a number of talented writers and A-list actors to make what they hoped would be a successful war drama. Instead, they created a legend. Casablanca is possibly one of the most beloved films of all time. Winning much-deserved awards in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Writing, this film was also Humphrey Bogart's first nomination for Best Actor and perhaps his most defining role. Bogart is featured with co-star Ingrid Bergman in this photobusta picturing a flashback of Rick and Ilsa's time in Paris. Corrections have been made to a couple of the pinholes, some of the small tears, and a few surface scuffs. The right border was once trimmed, but now has been replaced with a splice. Touchup has been applied to the image along this area to correct surface wear. There is another splice with touchup applied to an upper left corner chip. Still visible are some pinholes and small tears, light creasing, and unobtrusive stains. There is an ink mark and two tax stamps above the title. There is grease pencil writing as well as a few strips of mending tissue bracing tears along the edges on the verso. Paper from the film is among some of the most collectible in the hobby, and it has been over a decade since Heritage has had the opportunity to offer this rare photobusta.
