    Description

    Casablanca (Warner Bros., 1952/Nobis-Film, R-1973). Very Fine-. Uncut First Post-War Release Pressbook (9" X 13.5" ) & Uncut Reissue Pressbook (8.5" X 11.5").
Heritage offers for the first time these German pressbooks, one from the first post-war release of the film and the other from 1972. Though distributed in Germany ten years after its U.S. premiere date, Germany's loss during WWII was still a wound from which the country had yet to heal. Because of this, the picture underwent substantial editing to remove any mentions of Nazis and other hot-button issues, so German audiences did not see a full version of the picture until the 1975 redub of the movie for television. The 1952 pressbook folds out vertically to show key scenes from the film and shows the posters on the back cover. General signs of handling include light edge and spine wear, as well as soft surface scuffs. The 1952 pressbook has a minute chip at one of the folds, slight surface rippling, and hole punches in the left side. The 1972 pressbook has mild foxing on the covers.
