Casablanca (Warner Bros., 1942). Very Fine on Linen. Six Sheet (79.5 X 81.5").
A rare prize desirable by any fan of Michael Curtiz's all-time classic film, this magnificent six sheet is making only its second appearance at Heritage, an irresistible opportunity for collectors. Though it shares a similar layout to the Style B half sheet, the portraits seen in this image are of far superior quality, possessing a depth of color detail not seen in any of the other American posters. This enhancement of the illustration makes for a stunning presentation, an effect only heightened by the grand size of the poster itself. It's a fantastic representation of not only a landmark film, but also of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in their most famous roles. One of only a few known copies to exist, this large format piece looks great after professional restoration to slight fold wear and separation, some creases, a few areas of surface wear, and small chips and tears in the borders and folds. The linen has been trimmed near the edges of the poster, though not into the paper, and the borders and some of the white background have been airbrushed. Restoration has also airbrushed the quotation marks at the end of the title, as they were not printed in color when the poster was originally produced, a nice finishing touch on this coveted display piece.
