Description
Casablanca (Various, 1942 - R-1950s). Fine/Very Fine. Italian Photobusta (19" X 13.5"), Swiss Lobby Card (17.5" X 13"), German Photo (9.5" X 11.75"), German Program (4 Pages, 7.25" X 10.5"), Danish Program (8 Pages, 5.5" X 7.5"), Spanish Magazine (72 Pages, 6" X 8.5"), Italian Postcards (2) (4" X 5.75"), British Sheet Music (4 Pages, 8.5" X 11"), Italian Sheet Music (4 Pages, 6.75" X 9.75"), & Italian Entertainment Newspaper (8 Pages, 11" X 15.25").Originally released in the United States in 1942, director Michael Curtiz's tale of love and drama set against the backdrop of war is considered a classic throughout the world. Though the war going on in the real world would delay the film's release in many parts of the globe, the powerful story was eventually seen in countless countries by the end of the 1940s, and it would be re-released for years to come. Offered here is a collection of items for Casablanca from around the world, featuring images of Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart along other stars of the film. Featured is an Italian photobusta (Warner Bros., R-1953) picturing Bergman and Bogart with Claude Rains and Paul Henried. The photobusta displays mild creasing, pinholes, small tears, slight scuffs, and some toning. The photobusta also has a couple of tax stamps in the upper left corner, a paper splice replacing a chipped corner, and cellophane tape on the verso. Also included in this lot is a Swiss lobby card (Columbus, R-1950s) featuring an image of Bogart with Sydney Greenstreet. The card displays some edge wear, pinholes, scuffs, smudges, and a bit of surface paper loss in a corner. Also included is a vintage silver gelatin, single weight, glossy finish photo of Bogart and Bergman and a program, both from the film's first release in Germany (Warner Bros., 1952), a Danish program (Warner Bros., 1946), an issue of the Spanish magazine Ediciones Bistagne all about Casablanca (Warner Bros., c. 1946), and British sheet music for "As Time Goes By" (Chappell & Co., 1943). Also included, all from Italy, are two postcards featuring Bergman (Garami/Bromfoto, late 1940s), sheet music for "As Time Goes By" (Radio Record Ricordi, 1949), and an issue of Film (1946), a weekly Italian entertainment periodical. The remainder of the items are in generally nice condition with edge wear, minor creases, light smudges and stains, pinholes, subtle toning, and small tears.
