Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (Realart, R-1956). Half Sheet (22" X 28").
By 1948, it was apparent that the Universal horror franchise was running out of steam, so the studio sent its iconic creatures out in high style with this comedy monster mash, largely considered the end of the Golden Age of Horror. All the great boogeymen of yesteryear are here: Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein, and even, briefly, the Invisible Man, all pitted against the hapless duo of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. The result is movie magic, especially the performance of Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula, seen by many as his last great role before sliding into the tragic final phase of his life. As part of the Universal Horror series, paper from this picture is extremely desirable, including the reissue posters such as this half sheet. A Heritage first, this poster is in admirable condition. There is minor surface paper loss in the right border, two pieces of paper tape on the verso, smudging in the left border, edge wear with creasing, and pinholes in the borders. An important find for A & C completists! Rolled, Fine/Very Fine.
