Description

A Streetcar Named Desire (Warner Brothers, 1951). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Director Elia Kazan deftly transformed Tennessee Williams' sensational Broadway hit play into a true screen classic. It became the biggest film of the year and was nominated for twelve Academy Awards, winning four -- Best Supporting Actor and Actress (Karl Malden and Kim Hunter), Best Actress (Vivien Leigh), and Best Art Direction. Leigh gives the performance of a lifetime as the shattered Blanch DuBois, whose grip on reality grows more tenuous throughout the film, and Marlon Brando became a star due to his powerful role as Stanley Kowalski. The two stars share a poignant moment on this highly collected one sheet. The piece shows tears in the bottom and top borders that extend slightly into the background, pinholes, and slight fold separation, all with tape on the verso. Light wrinkling and extra vertical creases can also be detected, but the piece still displays very well. Fine+.
