Description1900 Paris Exhibition (c. 1899). Very Good on Linen. French Exposition Poster (37" X 101.75") "Andalusia in the Time of the Moors." Alexandre Lunois Artwork.
Offered at Heritage for the first time, this gorgeous poster for the 1900 Paris Exhibition boasts a beautiful stone litho image by one of the greatest lithographers of the Belle Epoch, Alexandre Lunois. Having lived in both Algeria and Spain, Lunois had a knowledge and fascination with Moorish culture that served him well in the creation of this poster, which was used to advertise Spain's Moorish history exhibit. Backed on linen, unaddressed signs of age include significant edge wear, large tears, chipping at the edges, and staining into the image. Touchup has been applied to small chips in the interior and a few of the tears. Some of the paper loss at the edges has splices. There is a tax stamp in the upper right of the image.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
