    Description

True Story Magazine (McFadden Publications, 1936/1937/1941). Fine+. Magazines (4) (Multiple Pages, 8.5" X 11.5). Miscellaneous.
True Story was launched in 1919 and was the first of the "confessions" magazine genre. The issues were filled with first-hand accounts of social problems such as pre-marital sex, illegitimacy, adultery, unemployment, and crime, following a formula that became known as the "sin-suffer-repent." Also included was a section on "Your Favorite Screen Stars." This lot includes a September and December 1936 issue, a January 1937 issue, and a March 1941 issue. Unrestored magazines with good color and overall very presentable appearances. They may have slight edge and spine wear, minor spine separation, small chips and tears, mild creases, thin dust shadows, stains, or smudges. Cover artwork for the September 1936, December 1936, and January 1937 issues by Victor Tchetchet.
