    Description

    The Stage Magazine Lot (Various, 1937-1938). Magazines (3) (9.75" X 12.75", 10" X 14", & 10.5" X 13.5") (Multiple Pages). Miscellaneous.
This lot includes the November 1937 and February 1938 issues of The Stage and the July 24, 1937 issue of Radio Guide. The November 1937 issue of Stage has entertaining articles, including "Utopia '37" by Howard Brubaker with a photo and review of George M. Cohan as Franklin Delano Roosevelt; and "The Old Familiar Faces" by Mary Van Rensselaer Thayer with a great photo of the Ziegfeld Follies girls. There is one page that has been cut out; however there are several vintage newspaper clippings laid in. The February 1938 issue of The Stage also has wonderful articles and artwork, including "The Adventures of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" written by Munro Leaf with caricatures by A. Birnbaum, "Music to My Ears" written by Douglas W. Churchill about the Mercury Theatre's production of Julius Caesar; and "Good Looks to Great Laughs" by Gilbert W. Gabriel with drawings of Charlie Chaplin, W.C. Fields, and other comedians by Jerry Farnsworth. The cover for this issue of Stage is attached to the spine with tape and there is tape on its outer edge. It also has paper loss in one of the advertisements. Radio Guide features an article on the career of Dizzy Dean and includes a charming picture of Shirley Temple with Eddie Cantor. Unrestored magazines with bright color and a clean overall appearance. They may have general signs of use, such as slight cover separation from the spine, and edge wear, pinholes, or very minor tears or paper loss. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Very Fine-.
