    Description

    RKO Exhibitor Books (RKO, 1940-1941 & 1941-1942). Spiral Bound Exhibitor Books (2) (11.5" X 14.25").
A treasure trove of movie history, these incredible exhibitor books spotlight RKO's 1940-41 and 1941-42 seasons. Within the pages of the spectacular books can be found previews of such film classics as Citizen Kane with Orson Welles (originally titled John Citizen, U.S.A., as seen in the earlier book), Disney's legendary production of Fantasia, and the immortal classics Dumbo and Bambi. Of particular interest to science fiction fans is the announced production of Gwangi, with special effects by Willis O'Brien. As fans of the genre know, this film wouldn't actually be made until 1969, and created by O'Brien's protege, Ray Harryhausen. There is a two page spread for Alfred Hitchcock's Before the Fact, later re-titled Suspicion, and a look at Too Many Girls, during which Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz met and fell in love. Also featured are Carole Lombard in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Jean Arthur in The Devil and Miss Jones, and the beginning of The Saint series. The books show expected edge and cover wear. The 1940-1941 book has a bend in the lower corners. Very Fine.
