Peter Max - Ben Turpin in Three Foolish Weeks (Security Printing, 1967) Cameo Poster (24' X 36"). Miscellaneous. This is a scarce original 1967 Peter Max "cameo" poster with a wonderful inset photo of silent film comedy legend, Ben Turpin, replete with spiffy white military uniform and monocle. The scene is from a 1924 Turpin short, Three Foolish Weeks. That's the lovely Madeleine Hurlock reclining on the tiger skin rug, perhaps best known as Lady Tarbotham in the frenetically-paced Laurel and Hardy classic, Duck Soup (1927). Surrounding the photo is a burst of Peter Max-ian kaleidoscopic design. An unrestored poster with good color and an overall very presentable appearance. It has a tear in the lower left border extending into the artwork with archival tape on the verso, edge wear with some small tears with archival tape on the verso, and some faint stainage in the bottom border. With some NYC galleries offering this poster for $2500, it may prove to be a truly worthwhile candidate for some restoration. Artwork by Peter Max. Rolled, Fine+.
