    Description

NeXT Computers by Paul Rand (NeXT Inc., 1986). Poster (22" X 30").
NeXT was founded in 1985 by Apple Computer co-founder Steve Jobs (after he was forced out of Apple), along with a few of his co-workers. The following year Jobs recruited the famous graphic designer Paul Rand (1914-1996) to create a brand identity costing $100,000. Rand created a 100-page brochure detailing the brand, including the precise angle used for the logo (28°) and a new company name, NeXT. The only thing Rand knew was that the mysterious NeXT computer was a black cube. With this scant yet meaningful intelligence, Rand developed a unique proposal book and logo. What followed is design lore of one genius meeting another to implement a new computer dimension. This scarce poster, featuring a facsimile signature in the lower right corner, shows only a pinhole in the corners, a pinhole in the borders, and some minor smudging in the background. Rolled, Very Fine. This lot was incorrectly put in originally as autographed, when in actuality it has a facsimilie signature in the lower right corner.
