    Description

Marilyn Monroe Life Magazine (Life Magazine, 1952). Rolled, Fine. Point of Purchase Poster (27.25" X 35.5") Philippe Halsman Photography.
In March 1952, Marilyn Monroe had just become the talk of Hollywood for her anticipated standout performance in Don't Bother to Knock, her first date with baseball legend Joe DiMaggio, and the news about her nude appearance in a men's calendar. Fox studios was trying to decide how to handle the situation when Monroe herself suggested she just admit to posing for the pictures in 1949 when she was trying to pay rent. It was the stuff that made headlines, and Life Magazine came calling. The publication gave Monroe the April 7, 1952 cover shot, and the issue immediately became one of their highest selling in the company's history. This poster was created by Life Magazine to place in windows wherever the magazine was sold. Indications of use found on this rare poster include edge wear, creases, minor tears and chips, and surface scuffs. The poster has shallow surface rippling and some staining along the left side.
