    Description

Marilyn Monroe by Richard Avedon (First Edition, 1983). Signed Set of Four Posters (20" X 28" and 23" X 28").
In 1983, the famed photographer Richard Avedon released a signed set of prints for photos he had taken of Marilyn Monroe on December 22, 1958 and printed in Life Magazine. Known as the "Fabled Enchantress Series," the images were celebrations of sex symbols of the 20th century, of which, Monroe was certainly the ruling goddess of the day. The set was originally issued with four prints and captured the likeness of Monroe as Theda Bara, Lillian Russell, Jean Harlow, and Clara Bow. There was never a print made of the image of Monroe as Marlene Dietrich. The four prints offered here are boldly signed in gold sharpie by Richard Avedon. The image of Monroe as Jean Harlow is near mint. The image of her as Clara Bow has a small tear in the bottom border. The image of Monroe as Lillian Russell has a small tear in the upper right edge and a bit of wear in the lower left corner. And the image of Monroe as the vamp Theda Bara (23" x 28") has a slight bit of crimping in the upper edge and a tear in the middle of the right border. Overall, the four images grade at Very Fine+.
